Hey Reader,

Can you believe we're already more than half way through the year? Check out our most popular posts from January to now.

We're Halfway Through 2026

So far this year we've cooked, baked, blogged, judged, and basically done all things food. We've been working hard to create recipes and blog posts that are informative, easy to understand, and enjoyable. Our goal is always to make cooking feel approachable and fun!

We're counting down our top recipes this year, starting from #5 on to the recipe you've all loved the most so far in 2026. Take a look:

#5

Chicken & Steak Kabobs

These are one of our favorite grilling recipes to make in the summer. The homemade Italian dressing is so flavorful and works so well as a marinade for the meat. The veggies are easy to customize to your preference.

#4

Fresh Orange Margarita

Margaritas are our go-to cocktail on a sunny day. We make these with fresh squeezed orange and lime juices and a sweet and smoky rim sugar that really makes this drink.

#3

Ranch Snack Mix

A favorite for parties, this snack mix is as easy to make as it is to gobble up. Store bought snacks that are easy to customize get coated in a homemade ranch seasoning and toasted in the oven. It's simple and great for sharing.

#2

Beef and Cabbage Shepherd’s Pie

Hearty beef and veggies topped with creamy mashed potatoes. It's several comfort foods all in one! Neither of us is a fan of peas, so we make this one with cabbage for a twist on the traditional shepherd's pie.

#1 🥇

Lemon Vanilla Scones

Our most popular recipe so far this year! It's no surprise to us because these scones are so wonderful. They're crumbly and buttery (never hard or dry), with soft lemon and vanilla notes. Better yet, they're easy to make, especially if you have a large food processor.

What's Coming Up

  • We're editing videos and blog posts to get more summer recipes up! Check out our latest here on Instagram.
  • We signed up to enter some baked goods into the county fair. We'll let you know when we get the results in a few weeks!

Final reminder: every recipe on our site is developed, cooked, and tested by the two of us. No AI recipes here, so you can trust that they're for real people!

As always, thanks for being here and happy cooking!

Pull Up A Chair with Rachel & Emily Conklin Hey friends! Here's what's been happening this week: we judged a local food competition, shared some new recipes, and renewed our focus on approachable meals. Restaurants and bakeries brought their best savory and sweet dishes to the competition. We spent the afternoon...

The Unofficial Start to Summer Begins with Good Food Cue the backyard barbecues, ice cold drinks, and pool side treats (if we had a pool)! Summer foods are so fun and right up our alley. People think California doesn't get seasons, which is kind of true in the traditional sense, but we have our own versions. Early summer in Southern California usually means cool, foggy mornings and breezy, sunny afternoons, the perfect weather to ease into seasonal foods. Summer foods are juicy, crisp,...
